Use Fast (50308ZP) for small jobs, or temps below 75°F; Medium (50309ZP) for small jobs, or temps between 70-85°F; or Slow (50310ZP) for large jobs, or temps above 80°F. Keep in mind, other factors, such as humidity, air flow and total film thickness should also be considered. In many situations, it will be useful to add 10%-20% 50104ZP Zero-VOC Reducer to aid sprayabliity, flow and leveling. Remember, this is an activated basecoat system; only mix as much as is needed. Pot life is about 2 hours at 70°F.
PAINT GUN SET-UP HVLP Gun: Fluid Tip 1.2-1.4 mm Inlet Spray Pressure 8-10 psi Conventional Gravity: Fluid Tip 1.2-1.5 mm Inlet Spray Pressure 40-50 psi Conventional Siphon: Fluid Tip: 1.3-1.6 mm Inlet Spray Pressure 40-50 psi
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS Apply Low-VOC Urethane Basecoat color in two full medium wet coats with a consistent 50% overlap pattern. Allow five to ten minutes flash time between coats. Flash time should increase if additional coats are applied. Most colors will cover in two coats. A third and final coat may be applied to set even metallic pattern. If required, apply this light coat immediately after the previous full wet coat, moving the gun with faster passes, from further away. Mist basecoat onto the wet film until the metallic pattern is uniform.
Basecoat should dry dust-free within 10-20 minutes. May be lightly sanded in as few as 20 minutes. Wait at least 30 minutes before wet sanding. Wait 45-90 minutes before taping on the fresh film. All dry times are approximate, at 70°. Temperature, air flow, total film thickness and other variable may extend these times.

beautiful colorthis is a beautiful color. you must apply it over white in order to get the pearl effect. I will admit that you will use way more of this than you expect in order to get the intense orange color. this paint can be more challenging to spray, so please plan accordingly.

Over priced for this colorWay over price for this color, and needs every bit of 4 costs over white to get the true color. Dont even attempt to spray over something with a multi color ground coat beacuse you will see it in the end
The Eastwood 4:1 Tropical Sunset Orange Pearl - Basecoat - Automotive Car Paint is available as a gallon kit and is not offered in a spray can format according to my knowledge base. This product is designed to be mixed with a Low-VOC Urethane Activator and applied using a spray gun for professional results .
If you are looking for a spray can option, you may need to consider other Eastwood products specifically formulated for aerosol application.

do i need to seal the surface of the epoxy and ureathane primers, prior to applying eastwoods tropical sunset orange pearl basecoat, and also which pure white base coat is recomended, so that when i order i would like purchase everything
Asked by: CATMANDO
I applied over the Omni MP282 Grey primer. I had some small areas where my darker omni epoxy primer had cut through. This takes a lot of coats to cover small issues like that. I have a 1965 GTO that I completely restored. I used 4 gallons of this Tropical Sunset Orange Pearl to do the interior, jambs, under hood/decklid and 5 coats on the vehicle. I did not paint the entire hood or roof as I was trying to replicate the RingBrothers Producer mustang so I used 1 gallon of the Flat Rat Black. My application turned out darker than if i had gone over the Pure White as recommended and Im sure that I had to use more coats becuase of this as well. But i assure you i still have the pearl efffect and in direct sunlight it looks amazing.

Has anyone ever mixed tropical sunset orange with clear and then sprayed?
Asked by: Phillip
You can mix this paint with clear coat but for best coverage and results you should apply a few coats of straight paint first before applying the clear and paint mixture over for a deeper glossed finish.

Can white primer be used or does it have to be a white base coat paint? To achieve the pearl.
Asked by: nova63
To achieve the color displayed on the speed shape shown in the photos this needs to be applied over top of a Pure white paint.
