Well made brace and foundationBought a year ago and finally actually needed it to build 40’ Wind Turbine Towers. There are many tube notchers on the market that will do the job for heavy tubing…THIS is not that tool. While the clamp, brace and foundation are all adequate, the actual hole saws that they include are only good up to about 16g tubing. If, however you are building an ACTUAL project that has architectural stresses…and that customers will call you back to fix or replace after the structure fails…perhaps one of those other sets of hole saws would be better.
Long and short of it…you can save money and buy this Tubing Notcher Tool…but give the hole saws to your neighbor for Christmas and go buy a set that will last.
I gave this four stars because what you are paying for is the brace, clamp and foundation. All of those components are absolutely useable for the home shop. Only the hole saw shaft is of terrible quality and you can turn one of those out on your metal lathe in about 15 minutes and IT will last forever. Or maybe that’s just me. I think overall you get more than you pay for here as the tool will work fine. I run a shop and will use this several times every day and don’t see any long term weaknesses. And even if it breaks…doesn’t EVERY tool eventually fail with long term usage?

Didn’t last through my buildBought it almost a year ago but just recently set it up. Good construction but wasn’t able to align it properly had to offset it by 3 degrees to get a true 90 degree cut. After about 20 cuts the arbor threads that hold the hole saw to the shaft stripped so now it’s useless. Looks like it’s harbor freight time could have bought 2 for what this cost.

Solid baseRight out the box it bolted up nice to my work bench, used a Eastwood hole saw and the first notch I made snapped all the threads inside the hole saw mount from the main shaft. The hole saw was fine but the threads on the rod broke almost instantly. Would not recommend.
