Good alternative to the actual platingLet's get one thing straight: this is not equal to the actual plating but it's as close to it as you are going to get with spraying process. I used it to freshen up 38 years old stuff that looked really bad. It does look nice but the texture is different. Again, it doesn't replace the original process but it's as close as you are going to get.

Golden CadThis simulates cad plating really well, without the cost of actual plating. Works even better if used over a silver base color, and sprayed on in a couple of light coats (then the green and red).

Looks almost exactly like plating.Used this years ago and then again currently. Found the "trick" that makes a huge difference is first painting the part silver, (I used Aluma Blast) then the gold cad system. Makes the gold bright, like real plating vs paint. Made all the difference in the world.

Can you apply this to nuts and bolts? Then install bolts with out it flaking off like paint? How durable is it?
Asked by: Cchunter
If not applied too heavily this would be perfectly fine and durable enough for the application in reference.

The Eastwood Golden Cad Aerosol Paint(16160Z) is an excellent product for replicating the Golden Cad appearance on parts but unfortunately it is not rated as impervious to fuels and additives for carburetor painting.

Is the golden cad base coat suitable for covering metal fuel injection lines that run from the fuel injection pump to the engine block? Lines have already been primed with red oxide.
Asked by: 4coast2
The Golden cadmium kit is not impervious to brake fluids so it would not be recommended for this application.

Following up on a previous question from 'Charles' on gas, oil and heat, it appears that this paint would not be a good candidate for valve covers on a flat-4 air-cooled engine?
Asked by: Mark S
This coating is only temp rated up to about 250-300F max. It is a lacquer based coating and will not offer much gas or fluid resistance.

Is this paint gas/oil resistant?
Will it hold up to heat, if so to what temperature?
Asked by: Charles
This paint has a temperature rating of 300°. And is not designed to be gas/oil resistant
