Eastwood Cruise Night Blue Metallic Basecoat Paint adds the superior durability of urethane to the ease of conventional basecoats.
Apply a durable urethane finish wherever you live in the continental US, even CA
Choose a fast, medium or slow Low-VOC Activator
Makes 5 sprayable quarts
Clearcoat is required on basecoat paints
Mixes 4:1 with your activator choice
Approximate coverage: 160 SQ FT
Flake/Pearl Particle size: 25-40 microns
Max Temperature: Paint will handle up to 300 degrees without delamination, but color shift may occur, so it should not be used in a high heat setting
Made in the USA
Classic blue is a just bit lighter than Eastwood’s Burn-Out Blue Metallic
Basecoat Paint Kit is a low-VOC system, so it meets regulatory limits in highly-regulated areas, eliminating the need to switch to a waterborne system.
What's Included
Cruise Night Blue Urethane Basecoat, 1 gallon Low-VOC Urethane Activator, 1 qt. (your choice of Fast, Medium or Slow)
BASECOAT PAINT MIXING RATIOS Thoroughly mix four parts Low-VOC Urethane Basecoat with one part Low-VOC Urethane Activator. Use Fast (50308ZP) for small jobs, or temps below 75°F; Medium (50309ZP) for small jobs, or temps between 70-85°F; or Slow (50310ZP) for large jobs, or temps above 80°F. Keep in mind, other factors, such as humidity, air flow and total film thickness should also be considered. In many situations, it will be useful to add 10%-20% 50104ZP Zero-VOC Reducer to aid sprayabliity, flow and leveling. Remember, this is an activated basecoat system; only mix as much as is needed. Pot life is about 2 hours at 70°F.
PAINT GUN SET-UP HVLP Gun: Fluid Tip 1.2-1.4 mm Inlet Spray Pressure 8-10 psi Conventional Gravity: Fluid Tip 1.2-1.5 mm Inlet Spray Pressure 40-50 psi Conventional Siphon: Fluid Tip: 1.3-1.6 mm Inlet Spray Pressure 40-50 psi
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS Apply Low-VOC Urethane Basecoat color in two full medium wet coats with a consistent 50% overlap pattern. Allow five to ten minutes flash time between coats. Flash time should increase if additional coats are applied. Most colors will cover in two coats. A third and final coat may be applied to set even metallic pattern. If required, apply this light coat immediately after the previous full wet coat, moving the gun with faster passes, from further away. Mist basecoat onto the wet film until the metallic pattern is uniform.
Basecoat should dry dust-free within 10-20 minutes. May be lightly sanded in as few as 20 minutes. Wait at least 30 minutes before wet sanding. Wait 45-90 minutes before taping on the fresh film. All dry times are approximate, at 70°. Temperature, air flow, total film thickness and other variable may extend these times.

Easy to sprayI was very happy with the way the paint flowed. I had not sprayed a entire car in a very long time. I learned a lot but over all it was great. Great shopping experience fast shipment

Great color rangeThis color has an impressive range of color depending on the light. The color has a good amount of metallic to it. I used 3 coats of the blue to get the color depth I wanted. 2 coats was a little light for me. 2 gallons covered the truck easily ( counting inside door jams / not counting the inside bed, I didn’t spray that because of a bed liner. I used Eastwood 4:1 show clear over it And they both have an impressive look. Also only used 2 gallons of clear on it. 2 coats was plenty. I used the Eastwood contours lt100 paint gun. Worked great for my Lower ecfm air compressor.

Great ProductWas hesitant getting this color but it turned out very nice. Paint is very easy to work with. I used HVLP spraying system with 1.3 tip. Had to set my PSI a little lower to get a consistent pattern.

Beautiful color, but lighter than depictedOverall I am very happy with how my truck turned out, and I love the color, even though its not exactly what I was going for. I did find it lighter than the sample picture, and much lighter than the spinning sample in the video. I think Eastwood could do a better job of color representations and/or offer sample chips. It would be helpful to know what color primer was used in the samples.
I would encourage people to reserve some of the unactivated paint for touch-ups as they only sell in gallons and don't share their color code to have touch-up paint made elsewhere. I didn't, and now I don't know how to fix the spots that I burned through during color sanding! I really wish Eastwood would offer smaller quantities, as they are geared towards amateur DIYers, who, like me, may make mistakes!
The paint does flow nicely, I used a HVLP turbine system with 1.3mm tip.
I also really appreciated all Eastwood's how-to-videos and live technical support.
Very hard to discern different shades of colors here. Is this likely the closest you'd have to GM's Laguna Blue? What color primer? The Mustang in the reviews is very close to what I'm looking for but with no chips available it's hard to tell.

We do not have the ability to match or cross reference makes, models, years, names, codes, etc. However, doing a Google search of the color in reference- this seems to be the closest resemblance out of what we have. We do sell a chip chart here though that has a small swatch of this color: https://www.eastwood.com/ew-branded-color-paint-chart.html This paint will cover over any primer color technically but we would strongly recommend a gray or white for best coverage.

Hi I want to paint my chevy colorado 2005 extended cab in this blue. With one gallon will i have enought of paint to do it??
Ps. Im not painting the interior of the bed only the exterior because i have a bed liner

If you aren't doing the door jambs or underhood a gallon should be adequate. If you plan to do all of the jambs and underhood we'd suggest two kits.
