What's Included
Each Truck Bed Liner Kit includes one container each of parts "A" and "B", a total of 1.7 liters or enough to cover the bed of a small truck. For larger trucks or heavier coats buy 2 kits.
This coating is appropriate for all surfaces except polyethylene and similar plastics. Lightly scuff to roughen surface before coating. Make sure surface is free of any grease or oil. Mix equal parts of A and B thoroughly. Brush or roll mixed material at a 5-10 mil thickness. For spray application using a schutz type gun, apply a medium-wet coat at 35-65 psi. Immediately clean off any overspray and applicator with mineral spirits or paint thinner. Works best between 65 and 95 degrees F. One kit coats 32 sq.ft. with a 10-12 mill coat.

Very goodSo far am very pleased with durability and looks. I applied it to the floor of my '52 Willys Wagon. I don't know if I didn't apply it thick enough because one kit did the whole back floor.

Good product, a little difficult to apply.I bought some Gator Guard and used it inside the box on my El Camino. I am generally happy with it but there are a few things to keep in mind if you are considering it for your vehicle. This is a basic, lower cost product so you should not over expect too much. It does what it is supposed to do so that’s what is important. I am happy with the coverage, one pack was enough to do the bed and inside 4 walls of my El Camino with about a third left over, and I did lay it on heavy. After it dried, which in the heavier areas took about 2-3 days; it had a glossy finish with many very sharp grit pieces apparent. The glossy black finish is not too cool because it really shows the grit bumps and big clumps in a more pronounced manner than one would prefer. It appears to have a nice tough bond to the vehicle’s sheet metal though.
The really important thing about applying this product is to take the mixing instructions very serious. The one can has thick black material in it that is reminiscent of roofing tar. The other can contains fluid of a paint thinner type of look and smell. If this combination is not mixed thoroughly, there will be clumps of thick black goo that will clog your gun tip or leave ugly clods if applied by hand.
I tried the paint roller method. This did not work out well. The knap of the roller allowed big globby clods to be applied, so I opted to apply product in bulk with the roller, then spread the product around with a brush for even application and clod break up. There are brush marks in some places, and if I pressed too hard, some gray streaks were left. The best way to apply Gator Guard would be by sprayer, but only after mixing the 2 cans thoroughly!

great stuff, but needed moreFirst off, the suggested two kits for larger trucks doesn't really work. I bought two kits for my full-size longbed, I was able to get two thirds done and ran out. I going to try to finish with just one more, but its going to be close. I sprayed to the economy sprayer sold here.. Worked great at 75psi. Everything cleans up well with acetone. The A part of this epoxy is a thick sludge. Tis makes mixing an interesting and potentialy messy affair. Be prepared for that. Other than that, 2/3rds of my truck bed look beautiful.

paint on coatingThis product applies at the thicknessa little greater than that of paint, this is not a bed liner product. The protection of 1/8" spray in bed liner is not provided, only scratch resistance. A second coat is not recommended , so the first coat thickness is what you get. The price I paid at Eastwood is about $10 more per can than elsewhere. I would not buy this product again, many other products available for the intended use.

Disapointed with appearanceI purchased the Gator Guard to use on my pickup toolbox rather than have it coated with Rhino Lining like the rest of the bed. Unfortunately that turned out to be a mistake. The surface turned out to be very rough with some areas even "sharp" to the touch. At first I thought that I had applied it incorrectly but that was not the case. I mixed and applied it according to the directions. Although the price iand value are fair, I cannot recommend this product.
What type of roller should be used to apply this product?

Per the manufacturer: "If you roll either Hippo Liner or Gator Guard with the roller sold with Hippo Liner or sold by Dominion Sure Seal you will get texture. The roller is designed to provide texture. Caution: Using the Roller sold by us with Gator Guard, the roller may deteriorate from the solvents in the product." This would need to be ordered directly through them

Can this Gator bed liner be used directly over Rust Encapsulator Platinum or should the platinum be coated with chassis black extreme first. Redoing floor pans that had under coating originally.

Can color be added to this product, and if not can it be painted over?

Gator Guard II is available in two colors White and Black. Note that White is not a Bright
White. White Gator Guard II is a Yellow-White when cured.
White Gator Guard II can be tinted a maximum of 10% with a universal colorant. Note that the manufacturer states If you tint Gator Guard II, they are not responsible for your results. You are
relying on the UV Stability of your tint to maintain the color and gloss and depending on
Colorant used, your results may vary.
(Universal Colorant – is a colorant that will air dry and does NOT need or use a
Hardener/Catalyst/Activator to cure the product. The Universal Colorant must also
be compatible with enamels, lacquers, epoxies and other types of paints). I have never tinted the Gator Guard, but have used basecoat to tint a different bedliner kit and used this in the wheel wells of my car.

My boat floor is fiberglass 64inches wide by 96inches length, how many kits will I need

Can this be applied over an existing "unknown" bed coating that has worn down and has a few bare spots in the bed

We can not guarantee compatibility with any product we do not sell. Since you are unsure of what kind of existing coating is even down- we would really have to advise you to strip the area down to bare metal first.

You'll simply need an epoxy compatible colorant to adjust the color of the white kit.

Can this product be used on a steel boat trailer that has already been painted to protect it from saltwater corrosion?

It shouldn't be a problem applying to a properly scuffed and sanded trailer. The only thing to keep in mind is we have never tested this product to be submerged in salt water.
